Threshold Partnership

Dear Friends,

The Church Council of New Vision United Church is calling a ‘Zoom’ meeting of the Threshold Partners of the New Vision Community of Faith immediately following our worship on Sunday, June 14^th, 2020, for the sole purpose of considering the following motion:

“Moved by _________________, and Seconded by  ________________ , that Rev. Dr. Ian B. Sloan be called as the Minister of the New Vision Pastoral Charge of the United Church of Canada.”

On March 25, 2020, Horseshoe Falls Regional Council, through its Human Resources Commission, gave its consent to the request by New Vision Council that the Council bring the motion to the Threshold Partners.

Covid-19 has required the New Vision Council to determine the best way for us proceed. Following United Church of Canada guidelines, and in consultation with our Regional Council, New Vision Church Council has decided to bring the motion forward to the Threshold Partners in a ‘Zoom’ meeting, with Threshold Partners joining by internet or telephone. Proxies or prior voting are not permitted by the United Church of Canada. Please see the attached explanation for how to join the meeting.

According to United Church Manual B.5.5, a Pastoral Charge of between 30 and 100 Members, whom we at New Vision refer to as ‘Threshold Partners’, must have at least 10 Partners in attendance at the meeting for it to be considered duly constituted. On that basis, we can be reasonably assured that our proposed Meeting will meet the UCC Quorum requirements.

Notice of the meeting will be sent to all Threshold Partners on or before May 3oth by email to those on the New Vision Email Contact list, and by regular mail to those who have indicated they do not use email.
