New Vision Notes for Thursday July 9, 2026

Welcome to a new edition of New Vision Notes! We are grateful to be in touch with you.

This Sunday is the Seventh Sunday After Pentecost. A joint service will be led by our special guest, Rev. Daniel Addai, Dixon, and other Dynamic folks from our New Vision and Kitchissippi communities.

Rev. Daniel Addai Fobi is the minister of God’s Beloved, an inclusive ministry of Kitchissippi United Church in Ottawa. While Rev. Jenni Leslie serves as the minister of Kitchissippi United Church, Rev. Daniel provides spiritual leadership for God’s Beloved, a community that welcomes LGBTQIA+ refugees, newcomers, and allies. Together, they are building a ministry rooted in faith, belonging, compassion, and God’s unconditional love.

God’s Beloved are visiting New Vision from tomorrow to Sunday (July 10 -12) and we are excited to celebrate together!! We invite everyone from our New Vision Community to join us in hosting our guests from Kitchissippi United Church in Ottawa. Here is the itinerary for the weekend:

We at New Vision would like to know how everyone is doing with regards to their hearings & decisions. If you are on our email prayer list, you have been sent an email entitled, “IMPORTANT: Immigration Status Update Request from New Vision” and was dated “May 27, 2026”. It contained a link to an online form where you could update us on your current status. We will have physical copies of this form available if you cannot access this survey online. Everyone is welcome to reach out to the church for pastoral care or a phone call if this is needed.

A very dangerous bill called C-12 is placing our siblings who are seeking asylum at serious risk of deportation without adequate protection. A a call to repeal Bill C-12 has been drafted by the United Church of Canada: “Refugee Claimants in Canada Deserve Full Protection“. You can help by taking a moment to read and sign this letter by clicking here . More signatures are still needed. Please share this with your friends, family and colleagues and take a moment to sign.*If anyone is willing to be part of a delegation to MP Aslam Rana, please kindly reach out to Dixon or Jen.

The Affirming Spirituality Group warmly welcomes everyone interested in exploring spirituality through reflection, connection, and shared experience. Our monthly meetings provide a safe and affirming space to discuss spiritual growth, self-discovery, and emotional healing. Join us to share insights, ask questions, and learn from the journeys of others. Whether you are new to our group or a returning participant, your presence enriches our community.

Peach Festival Volunteer Opportunity!

Summer is fast approaching! That means the Winona Peach Festival should be on our schedule for celebrating all things Peachy. Our friends at 50 United Church are an important part of the Festival. They are selling peach sundaes with the local Lion’s Club, and they need volunteers. Shifts are a few hours long, and are on Friday Aug. 28 to Sunday Aug. 30. While you’re there you can enjoy music, crafts, great food, and wandering through the kiosks. Admission is free. To volunteer, please contact NancyAu1967@gmail.com Hope to see you there!

A Song of Faith – A Song of Faith, adopted in 2006, seeks to provide a verbal picture of what The United Church of Canada understands its faith to be in the historical, political, social, and theological context of the early 21st century. It is also a means of ongoing reflection and an invitation for the church to live out its convictions in relation to the world in which we live.
