New Vision Notes

Thursday September 11, 2025

Welcome to a new edition of New Vision Notes! We are grateful to be reaching you each week. This Sunday is the First Sunday of the Season of Creation. Our service will be led by Karen and other kind folks from our New Vision community.

Membership Classes continue this Sunday!

Reverends Miriam and Diane are offering six classes for people who want to become members of the United Church of Canada and New Vision. They began last Sunday, September 7 after worship. Up to 20 people can register by messaging Diane at 905-541-6409. We hope you attend at least 4 sessions. If you have questions, please reach out to us. We also hope to offer these classes in the new year if there is interest.

Hamilton Reconciliation Learning Circle next Tuesday!

A series of meetings is being held at Melrose United (86 Homewood Ave), for folks to learn about the meaning of reconciliation with Indigenous people in our community and beyond. The first meeting in the series takes place this coming Tuesday, September 16th, from 1:30-3:30pm and will focus on the difference between appropriation and appreciation. For more information and/or to register, please email Pam at pam.awhamilton@gmail.com

Orange Shirt Sunday is September 28th

Please be sure to mark your calendars for our Orange Shirt Day service, and consider wearing an orange shirt if you are able, in honour of children who attended residential schools; a visual statement that Every Child Matters. Mark your calendars! It’s almost time to begin a journey through 40 days of learning, faithful reflection, and prayerful action! The 40 Days of Engagement on Anti-Racism returns on October 14. As always, though, you can participate at any time of year. Together, we will learn, pray and reflect on actions we can take as a faith community.

A Song of Faith – A Song of Faith, adopted in 2006, seeks to provide a verbal picture of what The United Church of Canada understands its faith to be in the historical, political, social, and theological context of the early 21st century. It is also a means of ongoing reflection and an invitation for the church to live out its convictions in relation to the world in which we live. Please click here to view (and/or download) this important literature.

Would you like to try leading a worship service? Our worship team is looking for some folks to consider leading worship. It’s a fun and meaningful way to contribute to our faith community! Please reach out to Julie or Dan to learn more about putting a service together.
