Thursday April 17, 2025
Welcome to a new edition of New Vision Notes! We are grateful to be reaching you each week. This coming Sunday we celebrate Easter Sunday in communion with Rev. Dr. Miriam, Rev. Diane, and other fantastic folks from our New Vision Community.
New Vision’s Maundy Thursday Service will take place this evening, April 17th at 6:30pm. This service will be in-person only, in our regular worship space. Please use the corner door for entry, as if it were a regular Sunday service.
The Annual Social Justice Walk is taking place tomorrow (Good Friday), April
18th, at 12:00 Noon. We will gather and begin the walk at City Hall. The event will wrap up at Trinity Lutheran Church, at the corner of Hughson and Wilson Streets.
Our United Church of Canada Moderator, Carmen Lansdowne has prepared an Easter message for us, reminding us that love and forgiveness are the paths to a better future. It can be viewed by clicking here.
***Important Building Access Reminder!***
New Vision is having repair work completed on the building exterior! For everyone’s safety, some parts of the sidewalk around our building are now closed. Please continue to use the accessible door on the corner of Main and MacNab (close to our illuminated sign).
Kairos Palestine Easter Appeal 2025: As we approach Easter, a time of renewal and resurrection, Palestinian Christians stand at a crossroad—one that will determine whether their presence in the land where Christ was born, crucified, and resurrected will endure or fade into history. The threats facing them and all Palestinians—land confiscation, forced displacement, physical assaults and violent arrests, targeted killings, movement restrictions, economic strangulation, and political marginalization—have reached a critical point. A PDF of the appeal document may be downloaded by clicking here.
Vote Your Values – As the Federal Election approaches, The United Church of Canada encourages us to vote for our values. Rev. Michael Blair shares an inspiring message with us in a video that we may view on YouTube through this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhPHAkW1ijw
A Song of Faith – A Song of Faith, adopted in 2006, seeks to provide a verbal picture of what The United Church of Canada understands its faith to be in the historical, political, social, and theological context of the early 21st century. It is also a means of ongoing reflection and an invitation for the church to live out its convictions in relation to the world in which we live. Please click here to view (and/or download) this important literature.
Would you like to try leading a worship service? Our worship team is looking for some folks to consider leading worship. It’s a fun and meaningful way to contribute to our faith community! Please reach out to Julie or Dan to learn more about putting a service together.
Enjoy Daily scripture readings from The Revised Common Lectionary: This three-year cycle of scripture readings is used by most churches in Canada and the US. Let the Word inspire you by visiting https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/daily.php?year=B#id79
