Notes

It is the season of harvest and of thanks. Let’s fill up our cornucopia this Thanksgiving Sunday and give all img_20161005_161320866we collect to our weekly Thursday community program. Bring fruit, vegetables and dry and canned goods to our worship this Sunday. Let’s fill our cornucopia and bless God who has blessed us.

We concluded our celebration of the Season of Creation last Sunday with our Blessing of the Animals. We had four dogs present with us and people brought many photos of cats and other animals and pets remembered and loved. We blessed them that the power of Christ fill them with life, bind them to their human partners, and lead them to praise their creator. And we sang “All God’s Critters have a place in the choir.”

On a personal note I want to express my thanks for the support I have received leading our Season of Creation celebrations. We are a peace and justice church – we’re part of the movement to be and bring justice to and with the marginalized. We as a society are just as likely to marginalize creation in our day-to-day life as we are to marginalize those who are differently abled, those challenged to maintain mental health, those who reveal to us God’s gender identity and sexual orientation diversity. Through our celebrations I experienced our Season of Creation as a time of healing and integration with and in creation. Thank you.

See you this Thanksgiving Sunday ~ safe travels to those on the road ~

Rev. Ian
