New Vision Urban Core Outreach

The Gore Outreach

New Vision is participating in the outreach happening every Saturday mid-morning to noon in Gore Park. Volunteers fire up the stoves in the New Vision kitchen early Saturday morning to prepare well over 300 hot meals each Saturday.

Thursday Outreach

The Thursday Outreach Program has been offered on Thursdays year round. Preparations begin at 9 am, doors open and snacks are provided at 10 am, and a hot meal is served at noon. Throughout the program the minister Rev.  Ian provides one-on-one counselling or referrals. The program finishes up shortly after 1 pm.

The pandemic lock-downs led New Vision to discontinue the program. We are looking at beginning something new in early 2023.

The meeting space is bright and cheerful with access to washrooms and kitchen. A volunteer led service of worship is offered each week in the Christian tradition, and is valued by many of the participants in the program. The emphasis in worship is that it is an offering.

The Thursday Outreach Program helps create community in the downtown. Through it, participants have access to a social worker for personal assistance and professional referrals in a safe, welcoming environment. Up to 100 people a week attend the program for snacks and a meal. Other types of support are offered depending on availability: bus tickets, coupons for haircuts, canned goods, prepared foods, certificates for McDonalds and Tim Hortons, etc.

New participants and volunteers are most welcome at any time.
